Work is under way to erect a beacon in Middlesbrough which will be among hundreds lit next month to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Nominations are also being invited to select one of the borough’s residents who will have the honour of lighting it for the first time.

The MMC Group Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Beacon is being erected on the viewing platform close to the Transporter Bridge and will be lit for the first time on Bank Holiday Monday on June 4.

The 25-foot steel and wood structure will enable Middlesbrough to join in celebrations throughout the length and breadth of Britain and across the Commonwealth.
