Over 1000 Edinburgh Brownies,Guides and Leaders will celebrate The Queen's 60 year Reign with a Jubilee Beacon at The Trefoil Campsite at Gogar Bank on June 4th. The girls aged 7 - 25 and their leaders will be bussed in from all over Edinburgh to join in a giant campfire complete with glow sticks before the official light up time at 10.10pm. The Queen will then light the National Beacon at 10.30pm.

Tristan da Cunha is the most remote inhabited island on the planet lying 1,750 miles from Cape Town and 1,500 miles from St. Helena. The beacon which will be lit at 10pm is very special indeed - it is also sited on a lava bank formed when the island's volcano erupted in 1961 and very unusually the beacon is constructed out of local invasive plants.
