A SPECIAL event to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee is being held at Kellie Castle in Pittenweem. Arncroach and Carnbee Community Development Trust (CDT) has joined forces with Kellie Castle to host a family-friendly event in the grounds of the 14th century property, which will start at 4pm on June 4.

Coolbuck Church in the Parish of Lisbellaw, Co. Fermanagh is to light a beacon to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Coolbuck is said to be the smallest church building in Ireland in regular weekly use and the building is currently celebrating its 150th anniversary.

About 20 villages and towns will light up the night sky with beacons to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in Leicestershire.

Seven beacons will shine across the Harrogate district as part of a network of over 4000 Beacons being lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, along with the Commonwealth and UK Overseas Territories, on Monday 4 June 2012 to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

The Queen will then light the National Beacon at 10.30pm.

The charity Fields of Life is urging 500 volunteers to take part in a sponsored climb of Slieve Donard on Monday 4 June to raise vital funds to build a school in Uganda. They will also light a beacon at the summit to officially mark the Queen's Jubilee.
